We were approached by Edinburgh Leisure supported by Edinburgh Council to help them transform their building at The Meadows in Edinburgh.
The building was regularly being vandalised and many local people were keen to both stop this and to improve the look of the Pavilion that houses a club room for the Meadows City Tennis Club, a cafe and other staff space. A design brief was formulated and Vue Art Was commissioned.
Further support for the project was also gained from Friends of the Meadows and through David Wood (Tennis Club President) who also sits on the Southside Community Council.
After successful consultation with all parties planning permission was gained and work commenced. Following discussion with the client Vue Art identified Shona Hardie as the best local artist to complete this style of mural to exceed their requirements. Shona Hardie collaborated with the stakeholders to ensure the design included representations of the wide spectrum of people who enjoy the Meadows alongside any required signage.
Shona Hardie is an Edinburgh based artist who works in spray paint and pyrography taking inspiration from the natural world. Shona's murals can be seen in many different locations across Scotland.
Work stopped abruptly by the lock down, but continued as soon as it was safe to do so.
While Shona was working lots of visitors stopped by to take photos and chat about how much they liked what they saw. The art work is now complete and regularly photographed and admired by people using The Meadows.
Vue Art continues to work with businesses, artists and community groups to create murals in and around Scotland. If you would like to talk to us about getting some mural work done please get in touch. email@example.com
